Week Twenty-two: Francisca Prieto’s Between the Folds/British Butterflies

Graphic designer + artist Francisca Prieto marries a mathematical view of the world with the etheral in her latest project, Between the Folds: Butterflies.  The 34×51″ piece (pictured above) showcases, in one panel, all of the plates from the Rev. F.O. Morris book, A History of British Butterflies (1870). Prieto’s intricate folds nicely juxtapose with the delicate subject matter. If you’re in London this June, don’t miss Summer Open Studios where you’ll have a chance to view the work in person. June 15-17 at Cockpit Arts.
