Studio 60

Today’s NYTimes Arts section has an article about Aaron Sorkin and his new show, “Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip.”  Bill Carter’s take is that the new show draws heavily from Sorkin’s own life (drug addiction, dating a devout Christian, getting fired from tv).  Sorkin agrees that there are parallels, but that the series is not based on him.  I am eager to see Sorkin’s return to television, since I adored “The West Wing” while he and Tommy Schlamme were in charge.  I’ve seen the “Studio 60” pilot already, courtesy of Netflix.  Loved it!   Also loved his movies “A Few Good Men” and “The American President.”  The man can write!  And a great cast, to boot.

Speaking of writing, the new issue of the New Yorker has a David Sedaris piece, “In the Waiting Room: the Perils of Imperfect French”.  Get ready to laugh!  (sorry, it’s not available online)
