The Bird Show

bird in maple tree | simple pretty

My buddy and I spent a low key Veteran’s Day together. It was in the 30s most of the day, so I treadmilled it instead of braving the elements. (I need warmer gloves that can run an iPod. That’s my excuse and I’m sticking to it!) After my run, I spent some time looking out the bedroom window, when I was treated to a bird show. I saw bird after bird after bird, flying in, sitting in the maple tree for a bit, coyly posing, and then flying off. My camera skills are such that capturing any bird with any skill was next to impossible, but the photo above is one of my better attempts. It was such a cheery display that I forgot to hate the chilly, cloudy November day.

I was also cheered yesterday by looking back at some of my blog posts from last November. It helped me to realize that every year at this time, I feel overwhelmed by “stuff” and am driven to minimalize. And even though I felt this way last November, Christmas still got “done”. Presents got bought, wrapped, shipped. Cards were sent. In a small way, this has calmed me. My mantra? It will get done.

More later.

That is a great birdie shot! So cute. =) That is really neat that you’ve been able to look back and see a connection with last year…
