Giddy with Anticipation

There are many summer mornings where I am awake far too early. (And by that I mean, there is no newspaper yet to read, and everyone else is asleep.) Often, I wait for the “thump” on the driveway by opening the laptop and surfing the web. Some of my favorite discoveries occur during my quiet time.

For instance, while clicking around the Flour Bakery site one early morning, I was beyond excited to learn that they’re working on a cookbook! I try to visit Flour each time we visit Boston. Last summer, we had lunch at the new Fort Point location, conveniently near our outing to the ICA. I love their sandwiches, I love their pastry, and I love their take on the oreo. (And, truth be told, I really love whomever’s handwriting is all over the chalkboard menu.) I can’t wait to click back over one morning soon, and hear that Joanne has a book deal. Read all about the process here, and if you’re in Boston, well, have an oreo for me.

I had to re-draw for the stationery giveaway, as the first winner never contacted me. Cyndi & Lee, shoot me an email before Friday at 5pm and I’ll send the Mr. Boddington’s goodies your way. You are extra-lucky this week :)

Wow, you are an early bird. I’m more of a night owl, though I agree the very early morning is a wonderful time of the day to be awake. There’s something lovely about the world being quiet (whether it be early morning or late at night), everything seems full of potential.
