A Mind Divided

folded cardigans | simple pretty

Halloween is tomorrow, and my mind is in January 3 mode. What do I mean by that? Well, every year, after the Christmas decorations and the tree come down (and I’m being incredibly generous with a January 3 date, because by the 28th or so, I’m ready), I start in on “Mission: Minimalism”. The closets get pared, the paper piles get smaller (although in calculus fashion, they approach zero yet never reach it), and the house gets cleaned. I’m not sure why my brain thinks that now would be a good time to tackle this project, but it does. Perhaps it’s because I recently read (somewhere?) that we use only 20% of the stuff we have in the house. Which means I’ve got 80% that could go. I’ve already pared the cardigan stacks above, so no, I am not skilled at this by any means. Never mind that stuff is arriving to wrap and tag, and wrapping is my favorite holiday activity of all (that and Christmas cards, of course), and I need a “theme” before I start to wrap. Which means more acquiring, in direct opposition to paring. You may be thinking that a therapist is what I need for Christmas, and you may be on to something …. Don’t miss the Halloween classic, “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown”, tonight on abc.
