Good morning! Weekends just pass by faster and faster these days. On Saturday, we were in the western suburbs to attend a birthday party. So, list in hand, I hit my stops while the 11-year-old partied: Moveable Feast for lunch and fruit salad (pictured above), scouted out the new cupcake shop, Viking office supply for Gem slide clips (denied: I’m going to have to buy online), a couple of wine shops to stock up for the holidays, Heritage Prairie Market for local honey, and finally, Scentimental Gardens. I met the owner, Debra, years ago when the shop was in St. Charles, in a cozy little space, and I worked in a gift shop across the street. Since then, it’s moved to a larger space in a charming old house in Geneva. Debra has always been quite the gardener and landscape designer. (Having her plan a garden for me is on my list of things I’d love to have done someday, along with a “Chelsea” party. Hmmmm, maybe a garden party?) I’m so glad we stopped in on Saturday, because Debra was there, setting up for the holidays. I introduced myself and luckily, she made time to chat. We covered it all: her shop, the stationery show, magazines, blogs, Boston and its awesomeness, and Petersham Nurseries – yeah, I want to go to England now more than ever. Anyway, Scentimental Gardens is a must see. Trust me (I picked up a Christmas gift for my mother while I was there), or, check out her website, which is full of information including a newsletter. They’re hosting a cloche workshop on December 9 that sounds like a lot of fun. Dare I fight the crazy hour+ drive and attend?
Okay, back with more in a bit. School’s out at noon today. For the week. This could definitely cut into the blog time.

Ooooooh. I live not 20 minutes drive from all that, and haven’t been to any of those shops! Thanks for listing them, especially the heritage prairie market. Must make an effort to drive south to see these things :)
