Cozy Fall Evening

The rain started on Tuesday right as the school bus arrived. (Timing is everything.) One of the things I love about fall is the coziness that sets in everywhere. Even on my usual Tuesday run, it felt quiet. That quiet you get when the snow (or rain) is falling. I love that.

So for Tuesday dinner, it was fun to fire up the oven and bake chicken bruschetta bake for dinner. As my husband works crazy hours, it’s usually just our son and I at meals. So we sat, side by side, having dinner and talking about our days. He’s always working on some project or another. Currently, his fascination is making books out of paper. (See photo above.) We decided to use one as a mother/son journal. He’ll write something and leave it for me, then I’ll respond. The ball’s in my court to write, so that’s on my list for today. I’d love to see this evolve over time, but today we start with “How was your day, Mom?”

Happy fall.

I love the cozy picture of you and your son enjoying dinner talking about your day, all while the raindrops continue to fall outside. I also love the mother/son journal idea. What a great thing to do together!
