buttons for peek…aren’t you curious
A couple of years ago, I discovered Passing Notes (in a design annual, I’m sure). I fell in love with Abbie’s work for Sketch Ice Cream – so much so that we had to stop in Sketch during our February trip to San Francisco. (One of my rules of thumb is that if I love a store’s graphic design/identity, it’s worth a “check it out” visit when travelling. I’ve met so many interesting people and seen such great stuff by simply following this rule.)
Then, this past Sunday, during a 3:45 am insomnia attack, I ended up on the laptop, and somehow, luckily, revisited the Passing Notes site. I don’t know why, because I hadn’t checked it out in a while, but I’m glad that I did, because I totally fell in love with her work for a California children’s store, Peek…aren’t you curious. I contacted Abbie on Monday (when I was coherent again) and she has agreed to let me share some photos with you. Get ready to drool.

don’t you love the little peep holes?

more “peek” fun
We’re hoping to get back to SF next February, and I’m sure that when my husband reads this, he’ll realize that we’re probably going to take an outing to peek…aren’t you curious (the Corte Madera location) while we’re there. Have to! So what if my son is 11? I’ll have two new nephews to buy for by February.
And in case you’re not familiar with Sketch Ice Cream (yummy ice cream served from a charming little space in Berkeley), here are a couple of photos to tempt you …

I think this is a menu for sketch!
I wish I had a copy :)

… and this is Abbie
Thank you for the photos!
Be sure to check out Passing Notes for more beautiful design work. Abbie’s site states that “Passing Notes embraces the thrill of that first folded note.” Exactly right. Seeing this work did make my heart race. Thanks, Abbie!

You are so right — when a logo is cool, I want to check out the store/service/product immediately! I love both of these shops!
