Recent Clip and Pastes

clippings notebook | simple pretty

Instead of saving whole magazines (though I’m tempted), I usually cut and paste the inspiring bits. My new 2008 system is putting the clippings into a notebook, instead of copy paper. I think it will be fun to save the notebooks and see how my style and taste evolves and changes. Or doesn’t. (I’m currently looking for the perfect “2009” notebook.)

The photos here are of clothing/accessories I’m intrigued by. In the photo above, I love the mustard yellow sheath dress from Ports 1961. We have a family wedding to attend in October and I think it would be perfect (perhaps with a grey cardigan or wrap for the evening chill?). I’m also eager to track down a chunky yet elegant necklace to wear this fall with jeans and tees. The one pictured is gorgeous, but as it’s Balenciaga, a bit out of my price range for wearing to carpool duties.

The second page view is of a lovely ballet skirt spotted in September Vogue (also from Ports 1961). I loved the styling of the ballerina in Central Park, and the pink taffeta was so rich. Then, the facing page shows my Italian style fixation. The New York Times magazine pegged the look of Italian Vogue’s editor as “minimalist heiress”, which sounded good to me. So I bought a back issue from eBay and clipped out this (Louis Vuitton?) outfit to keep me on track when shopping. Minimal. Check. Grey. Check. Adorned flats. All over it.

Have a great Thursday!

Bee update: their removal has been stayed until this morning. Lucky them. Wednesday was gorgeous.

I’m doing the same thing – saving tears rather than entire magazines. I’m not quite as organized with them as you are, but I’ve been thinking about scanning them in and keeping them in a folder on my computer. I like your idea, too!
