Piquing my curiosity

cafe au lait and mini scones | simple pretty

Above is Wednesday’s breakfast. The scones are from a Target Starbucks: they’re small petite vanilla bean, and quite good. As you can see, my au lait art will not get me hired anywhere anytime soon. The good news is, it tastes the same …..

Two things from my “reading stack” have me clicking around online this week:

  • Has anyone been to see Design and the Elastic Mind at MoMA? It opened on Sunday and runs through May 12. My online research really is drawn to this. (May take a bit to load.)
  • The March issue of Charleston magazine has a nice feature about naturalist Mark Catesby. I am obsessed with engravings, and his (of the region from the 1700s) are beautiful. You can read the article at charlestonmag.com, and to look at more of his work, visit here. I may need to buy this book. Gorgeous! I love this and this and hope to visit Carolina Antique Maps & Prints to see more of his work when we’re in Charleston this March.

See you tomorrow for the Five.

Thank you for the mention in The Speckled Egg. I can see how much you like the process of design and text.
Our Gallery has a long history with Mark Catesby and introducing people to his work. He created here in The Carolina Lowcountry. It is amazing how Audubon is a house hold word and we don’t even know about the first man to do a Natural History.
I will tell you you must introduce your self when you come in my gallery and I want to introduce you to my next door neighbors, Martine and Emilie Dulles. They have the most incredible stationary shop. Their web site doesn’t do it justice. Dulles Designs I have written in my news letter that we fit as next door neighbors as being the best in antique paper and engravings and them being the best in new paper and engraving.
