‘Tis the Season?

I know, I know. Today is Halloween. It’s still October for a few more hours. And really, I tried to wait. But when I was at Target a couple of days ago, I saw my favorite egg nog in the cooler. And because I know they run out at times (and also because the expiration date was Dec 06) I bought one to “save”. That plan did not work so well, because yesterday at noon, on a perfectly warm and sunny fall day, I became obsessed with having a chai tea/egg nog latte. Five minutes later, I had persuaded myself to open the container, and so the season begins.

Yes, it really is that good ….. my recipe is to brew one bag of Tazo chai tea, and top with 1-2 inches of steamed egg nog. And it has to be Horizon.Happy Tricks-or-Treats! Just getting through today’s NYTimes (at 10:45 am). I enjoyed “Good Taste Takes a Holiday”, featuring foodies’ Halloween favorites. Bonus: Michael Pollan has okayed high-fructose corn syrup for your treat basket! I think I’ll be making the Caramelized Brown Butter Rice Krispie Treats very soon. And there’s also a nice Maira Kalman video feature. Now, I shall see you again tomorrow ….
