Spring cleaning is therapeutic, and yet, at the same time, a burden. The obsessive-compulsive in me happily makes a list of the tasks, and crosses them off, s l o w l y. Ah, the excitement of cleaning baseboards and shutters! More fun is bottle reduction, where I try to pare down my routine to the essentials, and then manage that elite group. Ha. Between lipgloss and hair care products, I’ll never get there. Committing to a shampoo/conditioner could be the impossible dream, and don’t even get me started on the samples you can acquire just trying to restock! Exhibit A: my medicine chest. (It’s actually “our” medicine chest, but good luck finding anything of my husband’s in there.) If I had achieved bottle perfection, this would be an interesting photo; instead, it’s a panoply of skin and hair-care. Latest additions? Bobbi Brown eye brightenere and the Phyto7. In search of? the perfect eye cream. Finally used up? Cargo sample-size tin of lip gloss. Dead man walking? Trish McEvoy rose lipgloss. Your days are numbered, half-used gloss. Wish me luck.
