I love the smell and taste of coffee in the morning. After staying up late for the Oscars last night (yet still falling asleep before Best Picture), I was really looking forward to this morning’s cafe au lait.
When I’m in Boston, my go-to spot for coffee and morning goodies is this week’s featured bakery, the South End Buttery. Located in the South End, the Buttery has wonderful breakfast pastries and good, strong coffee drinks. (I can personally vouch for the chocolate chip muffin.) My experience is that you’ll have to get there early to guarantee a seat, but if the weather is nice, take your coffee and muffin to go, and walk through the charming environs as you sip and enjoy. Later in the day, the Buttery serves sandwiches and salads, as well as cupcakes and other treats! Check them out.
