Friday Five

First of all – a confession.  I hate temperatures over 85.  And the next four days seem to be chock-full of 90 plus.  What to do?  Stay inside and pick from the following five outdoor-avoidance recommendations.

1.    Read Stacy Schiff’s New Yorker article about Wikipedia.  Wow – people really get into their encyclopedia entries! This leads to

2.    Look up people on Wikipedia.  I’ll fess up:  I read about Stephen Colbert (lengthy entry!), Jon Stewart, Ina Garten, Phoebe Cates, Rob Corddry, and Martha Stewart.  No entry for Carolyne Roehm, and I’m not starting one.

3.    Go to Starbucks for an iced-decaf-skim-latte-with-one-Splenda-and-whip.  Marvel that they don’t even blink an eye at the absurdity and complexity of this order.

4.    Find a difficult Sudoku (sudoku.org.uk), and devote yourself to solving it, no matter the time required.  Sure, you could substitute the NYTimes crossword, but it’s Friday, and there’s a better chance of solving Sudoku.

5.    Watch the Weather Channel – wait for the weekly update, and hope that it shows an end to the heat!

What do you do to escape the heat?  Happy Weekend!
