Earlier this week, the Colbert Report was featured on both Good Morning America and the Today show, due to Rep. Robert Wexler’s (D-Fl) interview. (Wexler finishes sentences for Stephen Colbert like “I enjoy cocaine because ….” since he is running unopposed and therefore cannot lose – so let’s have some fun.) Today and GMA wondered aloud why Wexler, or any congressman/woman, would go on the show when they’re likely to be made fools of. Colbert has a great retort showing the “news” these programs feature. (an electric blanket eating python, for one) I’m wondering why those shows didn’t prominently feature Colbert’s interview with Lynn Westmoreland (R-Ga) in early June, where the congressman, who introduced legislation asking that the Ten Commandments be displayed in courthouses, couldn’t name the Ten Commandments.
